I have two newbies I'd like to steer towards the Cascade, because it's such a great helmet.
Because it's such a great helmet, it's not cheap!

I got mine at the super Wayzata Sports Hut, on clearance last year for about $50... sweet!

So--looking for any other preseason clearance Cascades. This sort of thing isn't usually online, so can you keep an eye out when you're poking around the sales this September? THANK YOU!

Westwood Apple Valley had some Cascades in the tent sale. Not sure they sold them. Worth a phone call.

The best fitting helmet is actually the best helmet for a player

Cascade is coming out with a new helmet this winter. The previous model was unpopular due to its aesthetics and cost. The new ones are a bit more streamlined and lower in cost.

Hmm... debating changing Matt's avatar...

For those of you who read my original post, I'm counting on the fact that the CHX is on closeout and looking for those deals on this great helmet, for two newbies who don't want to spend a lot of money but still want to protect their heads.

Did you buy your helmet at Sports Hut on clearance due to a preseason sale?

A lot of sports shops will sell their gear at a ridiculously low price during pre-season tent sales and the like. Westwood was selling Stealth S17 helmets for $75 (normally $150) during their tent sale. I'm guessing the prices went back up. I've yet to see a Cascade helmet for $50, but weirder things have happened. The one's I've seen locally are still selling north of $120. Per the westwood website, they do have them avail in two colors for $120

Here is a link to the new Cascade helmet if anyone is interested.

New helmet seems to be cheaper than the old ones..even on clearance.

I wasn't able to find discounts anywhere on the new Cascade M11 Helmets. After two concussions on the ice I decided to splurge to avoid a third.
This is a very comfortable helmet with a unique padding system. The interior looks like it would be real warm, but it's not. There is plenty of air ventilation designed into the helmet.
Good luck finding last year's model (I'm told it was heavier and hotter) or a deal on this year's (less than $120).
Best of all, it's endorsed by Mark Messier (and a D1 guy with two concussions).
