So what would y'all suggest? One over the other? Bother with both?
Any suggested links for learning more of the position's roles more? Or more rules to the game? Offsides onsides and the such.

Lifetime vs AHA school?

Without knowing anything about you, I'd say AHA Beginner School. It's the "real game" feel vs. a skill clinic. The vast majority of teams in the AHA D2, D1, and probably reaching into C2 levels started in Beginner School. You'll start out doing just skating and skill drills for the first several sessions. Then controlled scrimmages will get sprinkled in about a third of the way through the schedule. Finally, the last half of the program is a 9 game schedule. The instruction isn't as intense or personalized as Lifetime, but everyone should be approximately the same ability as you are which may make you more comfortable.
Lifetime is great, but I see you're JMS Level 1, and I don't know if you'd have the base (or what their threshold is) in ability to get the most out of it.

I also had to decide between the Lifetime and AHA school, and I chose the AHA school for 3 reasons:
1) its cheaper
2) It is spread out, one day a week for 10 weeks, I liked this because I could work on things I learned in between sessions.
3) I would be skating with people from the Twin Cities, who might also be interested in playing D2.

I just signed up for the AHA school because a friend of a friend went through it (having never skated before he started) and now he plays a couple times a week. Looking forward to getting up to speed so I can get into a league...
