Barb,

Just wondering what the Elite CS L6 skate is all about? I've never seen the "Elite L6" before...

Thanks

With no upward delimiter on Level 5, it was "anything better than Level 4" -- which was quite a wide range. Some of the very top people in the old Level 5 were young former college players, and they had quite an impact when they played.

So, we created a Level 6 and started moving people. Naturally, this pleased the 5s to have the real speedsters gone from their level, but the new 6s started saying BUT WHERE CAN WE SKATE?!?

After careful consideration, we decided the Monday 4/5 at STIA was the most likely candidate to welcome the L6 players into the mix. I was concerned that the true Level 4s not feel overwhelmed nor that "their" regular session had been suddenly taken out of their capability. So, we surveyed all recent 4s and 5s who have played at STIA--both informally (in the locker room before and after games, two sessions) and formally (of the many, many sent e-mails, only about 38 responded).

Not everyone was in favor, and I have to balance the Level 6 responses ("FINALLY you gave me a place to play, I thought you didn't want my business!") with the Level 4 comments ("You will lose my business if you put Level 6 at my Monday night game!"). We are sorry we can't make everyone happy. Our guiding principle is to do the BEST thing for the MOST people.

And thus, since a clear majority of the group that DID care enough to respond said that they would welcome Level 6s at the STIA Monday night game, that is what we did. And instead of an "Upper Level CS" (Levels 3, 4 and 5), I called it an Elite CS (Levels 4, 5 and 6) and the note on the game actually says "Elite CS now with L6." it is not a Level 6 game, as you can see the options for 4s and 5s still open on the game page when you click the link.

Hope this explains it all. I hope too that before anyone gets upset with the change, they will read the explanation above and think about how to please a lot of people who sometimes want very different things. Thanks. BG
