I recommend Parents Auto in Minneapolis off from 36th Street and Lyndale. Always do great work and usually well priced. My experiences with Bobby & Steves is that they are overpriced and have a habit of being a bit pushy.

The Car X in Eden Prairie right behind WalMart and by Bobby and Steves Eden Prairie is probably the best shop I''ve ever been to. They go over your car inside and out, list everything they see and rank the most pressing issue and even give you an esitmated time frame of recommendation to get the things fixed. I've taken cars in for them to check something and they always do the full check. They are not pushy about anything either, which is amazing. They even walk you out to the shop and show you exactly what they are talking about. They truly appreciate your business too. If I lived closer, I'd go there every time....but I usually do most of my own work. Next up is the alternator on my wifes car...ugh.

Yes, get the wheel bearings repacked. When you have anything wrong with the wheels of the car, it should be taken care of in due time. When bearings or shocks go, it can affect a lot of other items on the car to make those things fail prematurely (tie rods, ball joints, etc.). Spend money now to save money later. Bearings are by far cheaper than most components having to do with the wheels.

As for your check engine light, take your car to AutoZone and walk in and ask them to check your check engine light. They'll do that for free and code it and tell you what the car is saying is wrong. Usually, if your car is starting and seemingly functioning fine, it's typically a sensor that is out...probably an O2 sensor or something simple. The part costs about $30 depending on your car, and is pretty easily replaced.

Other than your house or education, your car is your most expensive investment. When you get concerned about spending money on upkeep, keep it in perspective. Think about this one thing: If you went outside right now and your car didn't start and needed major repairs...what would you do? $300 is minimal compared to the headache, stress and inconvenience of not having your car running!!!

I can only imagine the negotiating to get the rinks built... straight out of South Park via Saddam Hussein... "C'mon, guy!"

I have 3 kids, soon to be 4. It's always best for them to be in bed before I leave for hockey as it makes it easier for my wife. 9:45 or 10pm start times work best for me! Even getting to bed at 1-1:30 and getting up at 6 is preferred over the drama of kid issues. :o

Or at Best Buy, it means it brings it down to a closer regular price of the competition!
