In Topic: Best Place to Buy New Skates?
27 January 2012 - 06:45 PM
Thanks everyone - these are helpful replies.
Quick question on the bigger stores: does Hockey Giant have a bigger selection than Total Hockey? Are the prices better? Are any of the Total Hockeys better than the others?
I will check out General Sports.
Also, how much would you recommend a new player spend on skates? I plan to play twice a week and skate another day. -

I was in your same shoes a couple weeks ago. I purchased most of my gear at Play it Again sports. - I picked up Gloves, Shin-Gaurds, and Elbow Pads from there.
I coulndt find shoulder pads or Breezers that fit, so i picked those about 50 bucks each at Total Hockey. Hope that helps.
Thanks, it does. I got most of my stuff at Play it Again, too. I still need shin guards, but a friend my have some. Still need to get jerseys. I plan to check out Westwood Sports and Total Hockey. I looked at Hockey Giant and Way to Go. I may get some Craig's list shins, too. -
